YIELDS

Note: This table helped us decide how much of our own crop we could grow. Not much, it seems until this year. In 2006, we planted about 93 pepper plants--Garden Salasa, Hungarian, and Cherry for pickling; habanero, ancho, tabasco for drying, and jalapenos for salsa. Our total harvest for all was only 10 lbs! We planted 63 pepper plants in 2007 (did not use black plastic), but did not keep good records. In 2008, we canned about 35 pints of salsa, 21 pints or more of pickled peppers, and a bunch of jelly and roasted or marinated peppers. A bumper yield of Hungarian peppers in our garden (over half a bushel from 17 plants!) helped us cut our pepper purchases in half this year.
