Article:Cooking Up A Good Book

"One can indeed manage to lead an effective and productive life with Crohn's disease while we await its cure. Many factors help and certainly diet and appropriate nutrition are among them. The advice provided in this book will serve as a meaningful resource and guide toward that goal."    - Kurt J. Isselbacher, M.D.

Director Emeritus, Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and Mallinckrodt Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Isselbacher was Chairman of the Food and Nutrition board of the National Academy of Science. He led the Gastrointestinal Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital for 31 years.

"Fear of food is one of the hardest things to deal with when living with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. After a while, it seems like anything and everything you eat causes more pain. Couple this with the body's reduced ability to digest properly while we do eat, and you've got a recipe for malnourishment, undernourishment, and the severe weight loss that goes along with them. The recipes in this book are just what the doctor ordered. They've been tried and tested by people with IBD and approved by gastroenterologist. Not only that --- they taste good, too!"    - William L. Robertson

Bill was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 1969. He has run a patient-oriented support forum on the world-wide web for over 11 years, called IBD Sucks http://www.ibdsucks.com.

Thousand of members help each other get through long dark nights by sharing their experiences, strength and hope with each other. Folks all over the world check in regularly - many on a daily basis.

"I feel very strongly that the information contained in this book will be of great help to others looking for easy, healthy, nutritious recipes. Elizabeth has also included credible researched information about nutrition for certain illnesses, lifestyle issues, and food preparation, which can be implemented by anyone trying to improve their diet and create a healthier lifestyle."   - Charlie Gould

Charlie is a current patient at the Joslin Diabetes Clinic in Boston, Massachusetts, and a patient medical researcher and writer. He currently works at Boston University as the Manager of Training in the Administrative Computer Center. Charlie is currently working on several other books.

"Having just seen a preview of Elizabeth's book, I am thoroughly impressed with her work. It is clear that Elizabeth's mission to help others to better health is one that has driven her to do an enormous amount of research and hard work. This book will be of great value to those who wish to achieve a healthier and happier life. The great recipes make becoming healthier all the more enjoyable. I look foreword to purchasing multiple copies as soon as it's available. I will recommend this book in my nutrition practice and it will be a very nice gift for friends and family. Great job Elizabeth."    - Rick Seebauer, B.S

Rick is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, Department of Nutrition and Science. He has spent the past 28 years in private practice as a foods and nutrition expert. Rick also has a business growing and selling organic food.
